The living word

Our conviction that Christ is found in all, may bring us into conflict with those who see the only true inspiration to be the Bible, venerated as the Word of God. Reverence for the Scriptures and a belief that our charism, the grace given to the church, is the fulfilment of scripture is a step too far for some, an addition, and not orthodox.

Despite opposition our charism has come to mean something new to us: no one is excluded except they exclude themselves through a rejection of the discipline of love in what they believe. The love of God, of one another and of the other, who may be our enemy, is our guide to reading the Bible and listening to teaching.

In this way, even people with differences in belief can gather and be heard. Our charism has come to include un-controlling acceptance of difference as a ground for growth in Christ.

The Bible is God breathed. God breathed and breathes life in to it, the living word.
